How to Clean Your OOKA: A Step-by-Step Guide

With a few simple steps, you can ensure your OOKA remains as pristine as the day you got it. Below, we’ve created our step-by-step guide on how to clean your OOKA in the most efficient ways.

Steps to Clean Your OOKA Device

Cleaning your OOKA device is easy; however, you do have to be aware of the proper steps to take to ensure that you do so as effectively as possible.

We recommend reading through these steps first to ensure you have a full understanding of the cleaning process, and using the OOKA specific cleaning kit Then, feel free to break out your OOKA and start cleaning it yourself.

Step 1. Wait for Your OOKA to Cool Down

Before you start, make sure your OOKA has completely cooled down. Wait until the red portal ring goes off and the device is no longer flashing.

Step 2. Wipe the Top

Grab a dry cloth and give the top of the OOKA a quick wipe. This removes any surface dust or debris.

Step 3. Open the Portal Lid

Open the Portal lid carefully. Your OOKA will beep to alert you if there are hot surfaces. If it is beeping, wait until the unit has cooled down.

Use tongs to carefully remove the used pod and dispose of it properly if you haven’t done so already. For the best results, we suggest removing the pod as soon as possible after your session.

Step 4. Clean the Portal

Now, using a dry cloth or the included cleaning brush, gently wipe down the Portal. This helps remove residue from previous pods. Make sure you do not wet the cloth or brush prior to use

Step 5. Clean the Lid Seal

Once you’ve cleaned the Portal, remove the lid seal if needed and wipe it clean. Once it’s dry, reattach it to ensure a snug fit and to prevent any leaks.

Step 6. Rinse the Water Tank

Next, you’ll remove the water tank and give it a thorough rinse. Use a soft brush or sponge to clean inside if needed. If you have a flexi-soft tank brush, this can be an excellent option for reaching tricky spots.

Make sure to dry the water tank thoroughly before you reattach it.

Step 7. Rinse the Hose

Detach the hose and rinse it with water. For a thorough clean, we recommend using the special hose brush from the OOKA cleaning set. This helps maintain optimal airflow and quality.

Step 8. Clean the Downpipe

Use the downpipe brush from the OOKA cleaning set for this step. You should brush in both downward and upward motions to ensure you’re removing all residue. This will also help enhance the profiles of your OOKA pods!

In case you don’t have the cleaning set, you can gently brush the downpipe with a small, soft brush or a clean, dry cloth to help maintain the condition.

Step 9. Brush the Device Body

Gently clean the body of the OOKA device using the brush. Be sure to avoid wetting or submerging the device body, as OOKA is not waterproof.

Do not use a dishwasher to clean any part of your OOKA. Instead, follow our steps closely and you’ll find yourself with a pristine OOKA that’s working just as beautifully as the day you bought it.

Can I Wash My OOKA with Water?

Absolutely not! OOKA is not waterproof. Only the water tank can be washed with water. Never submerge the device body and avoid using a dishwasher at all costs.
